Beautiful calm, soothing music can affect the human brain emotionally, but mood changes are not singularly limited this genre. We all have that one song that brings us to tears, at the same time as having a song that really pumps you up and gets you going again. Music can have a massive effect on emotions, and that’s one of the reasons why composers add music to films – they want you to feel sad, happy, angry or scared at exactly the right time.

Although each of us has our own musical tastes, and sometimes we’re in the mood for more energetic songs, we can’t ignore the benefits that relaxing music has on the brain.

Melodic harmonies, calm soundscapes, or gentle piano playing, perfect frequencies and nature sounds trigger the release of serotonin and endorphins. Try to find time during your day to give yourself a dose of musical happiness.

Listening to music is powerful. It can set the mood in certain situations, bring back nostalgic memories, and in some cases, help to overcome and relieve stress.

Research shows that listening to positive or happier music can make you feel happier, especially if you try to lift your mood while listening. There’s also evidence that formal music therapy can help with depression and lifting moods when used alongside and in conjunction with other therapies.
